What is the Best Software Build Tool


We use Ant and Perl for all our building, but I am wondering if there is a tool that SCM Engineers think really works great?

I do not think there is anyone software build tool that could claim to be best.

Each software build needs to be analyzed on it's own requirements. Meaning that you need to understand the build's specific requirements and choose the build technologies that best accomplish the job.

If you are able to find a tool like MSBuild or VisualBuild that meets most of your requirements, that is great.

However, I think most software build engineers find the flexibility of the robust scripting tools like Perl, Ant or Nant to be the best tool in which to use to build their software.

Just my opinion,
