Software Configuration Management Career Path
by: SCMWise

Hello Dilip,

I think the best educational background for Software Configuration Management Engineers is Software Engineering, Mathematics, or any Bachelor of Science degree.

You are looking for someone with good problems solving abilities and a strong work ethic.

Next, I would look for engineers who have strong technical backgrounds.

As far as the career path, most organizations always have an open spot on the build team.

If you show interest and competence, you are almost guaranteed an opportunity to get a spot on that team.

After that, the career path is like any other Software Engineer. You have your entry level position, you then progress into your senior levels.

If you show top skills, you can move into Principal Software Engineering Roles or into Software Architectural Roles.

Good Luck,
SCMWise
